An overtime goal put RIT's women's hockey team on top for a win over Mercyhurst in the CHA Championship, 2 to 1.

An impressive win for RIT considering it's only the women's team's second season in division I hockey and Mercyhurst had won the CHA Championship 10 out of the past 11 times.

"The girls played extremely hard and left it all on the ice to earn this championship," said RIT head coach Scott McDonald in a release. "We came to compete this weekend and I couldn't be happier with this group."

On top of Saturday's win, three players were named to the CHA All-Tournament team, including forward Kourtney Kunichika, defenseman Lindsay Grigg and goaltender and tournament MVP Ali Binnington. Griggs scored the winning goal on Saturday and Binnington had an astounding 62 saves (a career high for her).
