News10NBC has learned the theme of this year’s Rochester St. Patrick's Day parade.
Mayor Lovely Warren kicked off the announcement Monday morning at City Hall. This year the honor of grand marshal goes to the Irish Children's Program. President Gina Mitchner spoke on behalf of the organization.
This year’s theme is “The Trinity and the Shamrock”, which are two very prominent Irish symbols.
Maggie Brooks, Monroe County Executive, said, "I love the theme this year because certainly it takes us back to the origins of St. Patrick’s Day, but it allows Irish Americans in this day in age to really refresh reconnect with their roots and I think that's very important.”
The parade starts at 12:30 Saturday afternoon at the corner of East Avenue and Alexander Street. The route goes down East Avenue, then onto Main Street to Plymouth Avenue.
