Downtown is getting into the Irish spirit. On Friday, the city and county came together for the annual “Painting of the Green” ceremony. This comes a day before the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade is set to kickoff downtown.

A green line is being painted right down the center of the parade route now that the roads are clear from Wednesday’s storm. Saturday’s parade kicks off at 12:30.

Right now, folks are gathered in front of the Radisson Riverside hotel. A leprechaun, Irish dancers and bagpipes and drums all to kick off all the holiday fun.

The city has been working hard to clear all the snow from the sidewalks. You can stand along East Avenue from Alexander Street to Main Street. The route continues down Main Street, ending at Plymouth Avenue.
