Chaos inside a school hallway and it was all caught on camera.
This happened in the Churchville-Chili School District. It all started with an argument between two girls. The video shows them talking and then it turns physical. Not just between two girls, but others join in. The district says seven girls were involved in the fight. At one point in the video, you can hear and see a teacher try and break it up.
News10NBC does not know what the argument was over, but the Churchville-Chili Senior High School principal says it all started on social media.
Noah Chesbro, Churchville-Chili student, said, "I didn't know what was going on. They were laughing with each other, so I didn't think they were going to fight."
Chesbro can be seen on the cell phone video just moments before the fight started.
Chesbro said, “The girl was like, ‘bang’ and I was like, ‘ouch’ and I watched them and they started fighting, yeah. They started hurting each other a lot."
The argument between two girls quickly grew to a fight between seven. The fights happened just before dismissal. The school had about six security guards on duty. It took almost two minutes for them to get to the fight, but teachers were around. In the video, you can hear a teacher tell someone to get help and try to get the students to stop.
The principal of the high school says the teacher followed protocol, saying it is the safest way to handle these situations.
Bill Geraci, Churchville Chili High School Principal, said, “"I've been in schools a long time, if teachers get involved physically, it can escalate the fight and more people can get hurt."
The principal says the seven girls fighting and the student who recorded it all violated the code of conduct. They could receive a number of punishments from a verbal warning to permanent suspension. The sheriff’s office is also investigating. Deputies say there could be criminal charges.
