A Webster woman accused of hitting and killing a retired Xerox scientist in January pleaded not guilty in Monroe County Court Wednesday morning.

Cheryl Tobin is facing seven charges including manslaughter and DWAI.  Police say she was high on drugs when she drove off Holt Road, hitting Martin Abkowitz.  He was taking a walk at the time.

Rollie Abkowitz came face to face with the woman accused of taking her husband's life.

The prosecution says Cheryl Tobin was high on prescription drugs including oxycodone at the time of the crash.

The victim, Martin Abkowitz was an avid runner and loved to walk to the local YMCA almost every day. He was hit and killed on January 30 on Holt Road not far from his own home. Abkowitz was also an esteemed scientist at Xerox for 35 years and was recently a visiting scientist at the University of Rochester.

Cheryl Tobin is being held at the Monroe County Jail on $50,000 cash, $100,000 bond.  She's due back in court on May 8.
