Students from School No. 3 skated in downtown Rochester as part of a community outreach event.

Xerox and the Atlantic Hockey Association teamed up for “Skate for a Day” at the Blue Cross Arena. Coaches, players and volunteers helped teach the students how to skate.

There were also several stations for the students to talk about things like academics, college sports, good nutrition and exercise.

Bob Degregorio, Atlantic Hockey Commissioner, said, “The earlier you start, the better chance you have at captivating their interest as they move along.”

Organizers say they hope to expand the program in the future.
