Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying witnesses in what they say could be a case of arson at the Batavia Bed Bath & Beyond.
Genesee County Sheriff’s Officials believe the fire that heavily damaged the store in January was intentionally set and they need help to identify four people who were in the store that day. They were captured by surveillance cameras. Investigators say the four are not considered suspects, but they may remember seeing something that day that could be helpful.
Firefighters say the blaze, which started in the bedding department, was put out quickly thanks in part to the store's sprinkler system.
The store has been closed since the fire broke out on January 27 because of bad smoke and water damage. Some employees had to be treated for smoke inhalation.
If you have any information related to the fire or the four people in the surveillance photos you’re asked to call the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office at 585-343-5000.
