The Ontario County Sheriff's Office says a Honeoye man was arrested after they say he crashed his car while fighting with his girlfriend then falsely reported it stolen.
According to deputies, 29-year-old Randy Pickett was traveling on Route 20A in the town of Bristol around 4:45 p.m. Saturday evening when he got into a physical altercation with his girlfriend while driving. Investigators say he lost control of his vehicle at that point and crashed it into a guide rail.
Pickett then left the scene of the crash, according to deputies, and later called 911 to report the vehicle stolen. After being questioned, officials say Pickett admitted to driving the vehicle.
He has been charged with criminal contempt, harassment, falsely reporting an incident and leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash. Pickett will appear in Richmond Town Court to answer charges. An order of protection has been issued for Pickett's girlfriend against him, according to officials.
Bristol Fire and Finger Lakes Ambulance responded to the crash and the car was towed by Richmond Auto.
