A school trip to Washington, D.C. has been canceled and district leaders say it is because of a group of students who have acted out several times including on a recent trip to Nazareth College.

In a letter posted on the East Rochester Schools’ website, Superintendent Richard Stutzman says the district is cancelling this year's trip for eighth graders. In the letter, he says a group of eighth graders showed a total lack of respect during the field trip to Nazareth on March 14. He also says the same group has acted out during a school assembly and on another field trip last school year.

He also wants parents to know that some students represented East Rochester in a way that makes the district proud.
