Although the Bills' official home is in Buffalo, it is still a hometown team for many in Rochester. Many of the players spend a lot of time in our area, especially for training camp, which has been held at St. John Fisher College every year for the last 14 years.
St. John Fisher College President Dr. Donald Bain says it is like a family member has passed. There is a close connection to Ralph Wilson and the Buffalo Bills.
Fisher has been the home of Buffalo Bills Training Camp since 2000. The bills came to St. John Fisher to expand the team’s fan base in Rochester. Wilson was personally involved in the negotiations with the college.
Wilson has been very generous to the college. Its school of education is named after him as well as the athletic center. Literally tens of thousands of fans have come to the campus to see the Bills each summer. It’s likely some may have seen Ralph Wilson who made an appearance or two in the early days.
Dr. Bain, who has a close connection with the Bills organization, says Wilson’s number one concern was always the fans
News10NBC asked Dr. Bain about the question on the minds of fans, what will this mean for the future of the Bills?
Dr. Bain says the college just renewed its contract with the Bills last year that would keep the team coming back every year as long as the Bills are an NFL franchise and both sides are happy with the arrangement. He says he has no indication of anything else.
