City school officials addressed the topic of student safety Wednesday.

Rochester City School Board President Van White says the district is taking extra steps to keep kids safe, including things like mandatory reporting of suspected child abuse and neglect, crisis intervention and handling hazardous materials.

White said, in a statement, that he and Mayor Lovely Warren have committed to working together to make sure students are safe in classrooms and recreation rooms throughout the city.
