Police in Irondequoit tell us two homes were broken into with people inside Wednesday Night.
The first happened on Seville Drive, the other just minutes later and less than two miles away on Eagle Ridge Circle.
It is a terrifying story. Melissa Thomas says a group of men forced their way into her home just before 9:30 Wednesday Night.
And what they took from her and her family can't be replaced.
“He thought he was going to die.”
Thomas says she wasn't home last night when everything happened but her brother and her two sons were.
“They knocked on the door, asked for someone named Sara, and he told them there was no one here by that name, and they proceeded to push through the door and more came from the bush,” said Thomas.
The group of men then beat Thomas' brother to the ground; put this coat over his head, and one man held him at gun point, while the others robbed the house.
While a number of electronics are gone, there is one thing that was taken that can't be bought again, her husband’s wedding ring.
“My husband has a terminal illness, so I’m losing him and it is just a part of him that can't be replaced,” said Thomas.
While she lost a very personal thing, her brother made sure the things most precious to her were kept safe.
“They went to go upstairs and he begged them not to cause the kids were up there,” said Thomas.
“I’ll never be able to thank Josh I know he would have done what he would have had to take care of my kids. He would have never let anything happen to them.”
I also spoke to the home owner on Seville Drive where the other break-in happened. He told me he woke up to a man in his home, was hit in the head, and believes the person only took his wallet.
