A high school junior who fought to help other kids with cancer while she was battling it herself has died.

The Fairport School District says Hannah Metzler has passed away. She was a junior at Fairport High School and had a form of brain cancer.

Back in November, students at Martha Brown Middle School came together and raised about 6,000 thousand dollars to help Hannah and her family with their medical bills. She decided to pay it forward and donated that money to Golisano Children's Hospital to help other kids going through the same fight.

There will be a vigil Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. on “Angel Hill" in Fairport.
