I was in the middle of an interview when it hit me.

The lyrics she was sharing were the perfect message for Unite Rochester.

I don't know for sure what the person who wrote the song was thinking at the time. It could have been--but I don't think it was about race relations.

My interview was with six-time Grammy Award winner Naomi Judd. She was talking about her own life--the highs and the lows of making it big in the world of country music-- touring with her daughter, Wynonna and life in general.

She was sitting down with a few journalists before speaking at a luncheon hosted by Lifespan--an organization that helps older adults embrace aging.

Naomi and I had never met before, but we did some quick bonding over our shared Kentucky roots. She was sharing some good old, down home wit and wisdom about "aging gratefully". She's written a book on the topic.

(By the way, she doesn't hesitate to tell you she is 68 years old)

I was all engrossed in her life story when she suddenly said "there is a song I wrote"...then spoke these lyrics: "When we stand together, it's our finest hour. We can do anything, anything, Keep believin' in the power."

She was talking about her life and my thoughts suddenly shifted to "Unite Rochester."

Crazy? Maybe not.

Those lyrics to her song "Love Can Build A Bridge" are universal.

Thanks Naomi for reminding us.
