A Wayne County highway employee was seriously injured after he was hit by a car.

The accident happened on Springlake Road in the town of Butler Monday morning.

New York State Police say 58-year-old Terry Young, of Clyde, was standing behind a parked county truck when he was hit by a car traveling north on Springlake Road. Young was taken to Strong Hospital by Mercy Flight. State Police say he is in serious condition. Police also say Young was wearing a reflective vest and the county truck had its four way flashers and overhead lights on.

The driver of the car, 83-year-old Marvin Jay, of Red Creek, received minor injuries. He was ticketed under the Move Over Law.
