Batavia Police have been searching for a Level 2 sex offender and News10NBC has just learned that they have arrested that man.

Wayne Potter arrived at the Batavia Police Department Tuesday evening to change his address and that’s when he was arrested and taken into custody.

Police had been searching for Potter since last week. He's a Level 2 registered sex offender who was convicted of raping a 14-year-old girl in Genesee County in 2003. Last week, police wanted to question Potter in a different case.  They went to the house he told police he was living at, but when police arrived they say they discovered he never lived there. That had authorities very concerned

Detective Kevin Czora, Batavia City Police, said, "When somebody willingly and knowingly chooses not to follow the rules, the laws of what they can or can not do, especially sex offenders, there's always concern."
