A Rochester man was taken into custody after police say he drove under the influence of drugs with a child in the car.
State Police tell News10NBC that 24-year-old Ronnie Simpson was pulled over in the Town of Byron. Troopers say they smelled alcohol during the traffic stop and saw a bag of marijuana in plain view inside Simpson's car.
News10NBC is told Simpson was tested for sobriety and determined to be under the influence of drugs. Police say there was a child under the age of 16 in the car at the time, a violation of Leandra's Law.
Simpson is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, aggravated DWI with a child in the vehicle less than 16 years old, operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs and other vehicle and traffic charges.
Simpson was arraigned in Byron town court and sent to the Genesee County jail on $1,500 bail.
