Deputies: Wayne County man arrested following police chase

A 37-year-old Wayne County man is facing a slew of charges after police say he led them on a chase from Lyons to Newark.

Sheriff’s deputies tell News10NBC they stopped Jody Valentine of Newark for speeding Sunday night in the Town of Lyons. According to deputies, Valentine had pulled to the side of the road for the traffic stop but then took off towards Newark. Police tell us Valentine’s vehicle was eventually stopped by spike strips as it entered the Village of Newark.

Valentine was taken into custody and charged with multiple vehicle and traffic violations including DWI, unlawfully fleeing from a police officer while in a vehicle, reckless driving, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and unlicensed operator.

Valentine is being held in lieu of bail.
