Yahoo adding security

Yahoo is trying to give those worried about snooping a little less to worry about. It has added more layers of security to keep communications between its members and the outside world from being targeted by prying eyes.

Among the measures: a system that encrypts all information being sent from one Yahoo data center to another. That is designed to make the emails and other digital information flowing through data centers unreadable to outsiders. Search requests made from Yahoo's home page are also now automatically encrypted.

The new head of security at Yahoo says users should understand that company officials feel it's their responsibility to keep them safe.
