A Rochester man has been found guilty Thursday of murdering a woman seven years ago.

A Monroe County Jury found 49-year-old Darrell Boyd guilty of second-degree murder.  Police say Boyd brutally beat and strangled Katharina Lawn in her apartment on April 20, 2007. Police say Boyd then set fire to the apartment in an attempt to cover up his crime. The district attorney’s office says a critical piece of evidence that was presented at the trial was the presence of Boyd’s DNA underneath Lawn’s fingernails.

Boyd will be sentenced on May 14 where he faces up to 25 years to life in prison.
