A man who has worked tirelessly to help the community will be honored Friday in Washington, D.C. Gary Mervis will formally receive the FBI Director's Community Leadership Award. Mervis was also honored at a local ceremony held in December 2013.
Mervis is the founder of Camp Good Days and Special Times, which helps children and families affected by cancer. This award is in recognition of his role as chairman of the Project Exile Advisory Board. The group has worked to remove 14,000 illegal guns from the streets of Rochester and Monroe County.
