Some new neighbors could be moving in on Monroe Avenue and it is causing some controversy. Thousands travel along Monroe Avenue in Brighton near Pittsford every day and the traffic there can be tough.
Now there is word that Delta Sonic may be moving in and taking over Clover Lanes. The news is fueling fears about creating more of a traffic headache.
Delta Sonic has purchased Clover Lanes, which is next door to Mario’s Restaurant. The two businesses will have to share a parking lot.
The traffic on Monroe Avenue could get worse if Delta Sonic, a car wash chain, replaces Clover Lanes. The bowling alley shares a parking lot with Mario’s' Italian Steakhouse. One of the owners says the family run company is against a new car washing coming in because they already have a car wash across the street.
Danny Daniele, Mario’s Italian Steakhouse, said, “We disagree with the car wash for many reasons, obviously in that location, because we have a car wash right down the street.”
Many residents are also against the idea. News10NBC caught up with Shannon Cooper as she was taking a lunch break with some co-workers.
Shannon Cooper said, “If there's even more congestion, especially with a car wash here, people pulling in and out consistently, all day, it would be much, much worse.”
The town supervisor says more traffic could be dangerous.
Bill Smith, Pittsford Town Supervisor, said, “The section of that street is a notoriously accident prone area, because of the on/off ramps from 590, because of turning issues, because of the turning lane and the way drivers interact.”
Cooper said, “I'll avoid it even more, definitely try and stay away from the area.”
