Volunteers helping to build a new home for a family in need

Volunteers were out on Jay Street Saturday to help a family get a new home.

The family getting the house, along with others, got down to work. They raised the entry-way for the new home, which was a symbolic beginning of the building season for the Flower City Habitat for Humanity. Organizers say all the hard work is worth it so a family in need can have a roof over their head.
"I think when I started this project with my friend, we were like, it's really just great, you know, at the end of the day it's about the family, and giving a deserving family a nice place to live. So that's what warms my heart. It makes me feel so lucky to be a part of this,” said Pittsford-Mendon student Violet Loveys.
Organizers are still raising money to fund the new home. If you would like to help click here.
