They aren't calling it a kill switch but Samsung is adding two new safeguards to its newest smartphones to help stop thefts of the devices.

Samsung, the world's largest mobile phone maker, says users will be able to launch "Find My Mobile" and "Reactivation Lock" to protect the new Galaxy 5 S, which goes on sale next week.

The features will lock the phone if there's an unauthorized attempt to reset it. The phones will have the provisions on models sold by Verizon and U.S. Cellular. It's a response to calls by law enforcement authorities for cellphone makers to create kill switches that would keep a stolen phone from being reactivated after it changes hands illegally.
