News10NBC is tracking down more details in the case against a Rochester man accused of taking nearly $92,000 from another person.
Forty six-year-old Steven Argento was arraigned Tuesday morning. He’s charged with grand larceny and identity theft.
According to court paperwork, police say Argento used that person’s credit card information without permission to withdraw money 19 different times and put it in his own bank account. Police say the crimes happened between May and November of last year.
Argento’s attorney said this is just a business disagreement between his client and the victim.
James Nobles, defense attorney, said, “It was a very standard operating relationship that Mr. Argento would have with a variety of artists around town. There have been no allegations of any other artists having any other problems with this gallery or anything else. So it's an isolated incident where it's really a dispute between these two individuals about the value of services.”
Argento's attorney says he anticipates his client will be out of custody later in the week.
