If you're on social media often, you're probably used to seeing all kinds of requests from people. A Wayne County woman says when she saw one couple's plea and final effort to find a kidney donor; she knew she had to take action.
News10NBC met Jaime DiPronio Wednesday, along with the man about to have this life saving procedure. These former strangers have really formed a bond that goes well beyond the operating room.
Jaime DiPronio said, “They were just looking, it seemed like, for a miracle and their story reached out to me.”
It is a story on Facebook of a man on borrowed time and in dire need of a kidney and a stranger who put it all on the line to help.
DiPronio said, “We talked on the phone first and Sheri put me on speaker so I could talk to both of them.”
After months of testing, Jason Swinehart has found his angel donor, Jaime DiPronio, a dental hygienist.
Jason Swinehart said, “It means being back to life as normal, really, just getting back to not having to be on dialysis three times a week.”
Jason, his wife, Sheri, and donor Jaime, all met with doctors Wednesday morning. They're excited and ready for the surgery at Strong Memorial Hospital next Tuesday.
DiPronio said, “That's it. Just not get sick and be healthy.”
Now thanks to Facebook and one woman's inspiring gift, these three have formed a bond that will last a lifetime.
Sheri Swinehart said, “She is a very small person with a humongous heart.”
DiPronio said, “I’d like to think that we'd always be a part of one another's life, in the right ways.”
The big day is next Tuesday April 15. They're set to go in for surgery at 6:00 a.m. News10NBC will let you know how it goes.
