A Canisteo resident was arrested Thursday after deputies say a search of his home found over 30 marijuana plants and drug paraphernalia.

According to investigators, 25-year-old James Alonzo Margeson was arrested after a search conducted by the Steuben County Probation Department found marijuana plants in different growth stages and seven hypodermic needles in his basement.

Margeson has been charged with unlawful growing of Cannabis and criminal possession of a hypodermic needle, both misdemeanors. He is to appear in court at a later date.

Investigators say Margeson could also face probation violation charges due to a previous burglary conviction.
