The Rochester Red Wings’ six-game winning streak was snapped Sunday afternoon, falling 3-2 to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, PA.

The IronPigs jumped ahead 3-0 after two innings then held off the Wings who threatened in the late innings.

The Wings’ comeback bid began in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly from Eric Farris and an RBI double from Dan Rohlfing that trimmed the Lehigh Valley lead to 3-2.

In the eighth, the Wings got a leadoff walk from Danny Santana but he was quickly erased on a double play ball off the bat of James Beresford. However, a two-out single from Deibinson Romero and a walk to Chris Parmelee put runners on first and second for Wilkin Ramirez who struck out swinging on a 3-2 pitch to end the threat.

Farris got an infield single with one out in the ninth but he was erased on a double play pop-up off the bat of Rohlfing to end the game, sending Rochester to their first loss since last Sunday.

The IronPigs jumped in front early off Red Wings starter Kris Johnson, plating a pair of runs on two hits in the first inning and another on an RBI double from former Wing Clete Thomas in the second. Johnson went five innings allowing three runs on five hits with one walk and a pair of strikeouts.

IronPigs ace David Buchanan made the start but pitched only one inning as it was speculated he may be headed to the Major Leagues. Right-hander Brad Lincoln reliever Buchanan and pitched well tossing three scoreless innings allowing just three hits with four strikeouts to earn the victory in his IronPigs debut.

Rochester got solid relief outings from Deolis Guerra and A.J. Achter who combined to throw three scoreless innings which allowed the Red Wings to creep back in the game.

After taking three of four from Lehigh Valley, the Wings will head home to open a four-game series at Frontier Field against Pawtucket beginning Monday night at 7:05 p.m. RHP Trevor May is scheduled to make his second career Triple-A start for the Wings.
