The bitter cold and snow played a big role in home sales and starting new homes at the start of this year.
On Thursday, two local agencies released housing statistics for the first three months of 2014. The Greater Rochester Association of Realtors say just over 1,700 homes were sold in Monroe County between January and March. That’s about 150 fewer homes than the same time last year.
The association adds there were fewer homes up "for sale" this year compared to last.
As for new homes, the Rochester Homebuilders Association says officials issued 143 building permits in Monroe County over the first three months. That's just over a dozen less than the first three months of 2013.
