A special honor for a professor at the Rochester Institute of Technology.

Stephen Whittaker, a professor in the School of Media Sciences at RIT’s College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, is the first-ever recipient of the Edline M. Chun Award for Outstanding Teaching and Service.

The award is named in honor the late Edline Chun, an associate professor at RIT, who was shot and killed inside her Hazelwood Terrace home in 2013. Two people, Natalie Johnson and Jerrell Henry, are currently serving 25 years to life in prison for her murder.

College officials say the Edline M. Chun Award will be given annually to a College of Imaging Arts and Sciences adjunct professor who shows excellence and dedication in teaching to a CIAS-affiliated school and to the college.
