Members of local and national law enforcement gathered Monday to recognize a collaborative effort by Rochester Police and U.S. Marshals in bringing two murder suspects to justice.
On March 30, members of the Rochester Police Department’s major crimes unit and the U.S. Marshals executed a search warrant in New York City to arrest 33-year-old Dakwan Patterson. He's accused of shooting and killing 27-year-old Antoine Brown on Jay Street in December.
On April 7, the U.S. Marshals assisted the Rochester Police Department’s major crimes unit in locating 33-year-old Khaleef Reed in Jonesboro, Georgia. He is charged with the murder of 27-year old Sir-Cordae Hightower in a shooting that happened on Wilkins Street on March 31.
Michael Ciminelli, Rochester Police Chief, said, "These two cases illustrate the team work, which is absolutely critical for a successful result in these cases. It's teamwork by a lot of the people you see in this room and some who couldn't be here and what's important is this team work is more important than any one officer investigator or agency."
Dakwan Patterson has already been brought back to Rochester while Khaleef Reed is awaiting extradition from Georgia. Both suspects are charged with second-degree murder.
