It was a double shooting in broad daylight and it happened near the Family Dollar store on Genesee Street.

Police are calling this a brazen shooting.  Police found the victims outside the store. One man was dead when crews got to the scene. The other was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the shooting actually happened up the road from the store. Both victims were in their 40’s and did not live in the city. Right now, police aren’t sure what they were doing there.

Witnesses say they saw someone, outside of a car, shoot the two men and then victims drove away down the street to the Family Dollar parking lot.

For many people who live out here, the fact this happened in the middle of the afternoon is scary, but police say it is helping their investigation.

Lieutenant Frank Umbrino, Rochester Police Department, said, “Again this happened in broad daylight, so it is our hope that there will be many people who saw stuff and we have already had many people come forward.”

Right now, police don't have any suspects in custody.  They are interviewing witnesses and the surviving victim. Police have not released the victims' names at this time.
