The competition to bring four new casinos to upstate New York is moving ahead.  A local developer is throwing its hat into the ring among big names to bring one of those casinos to the Finger Lakes.

The chairman of Wilmorite says the Wilmot Casino and Resort submitted the required $1 million application fee to the state gaming commission.  Tuesday was the deadline for any group interested in building a casino upstate to pay that fee. Wilmorite wants to bring a $350 million casino to the town of Tyre, just off the Thruway in Seneca County.

Back in November, voters approved amending the state constitution to allow the construction of up to four casinos on non-Indian land in different areas of the state. Caesars Entertainment also wants to build one of the four casinos outside of New York City.
