In two days, the Amerks will begin the playoffs at the Blue Cross Arena. The results the past two seasons have left much to be desired. The team has lost both times in the first round.
This year, the Amerks’ opponent will be Chicago, instead of Toronto who ended Rochester’s season the past two years. It's those early exits that have this team taking a different approach.
Head coach Chadd Cassidy says his players let emotions run too high against Toronto, especially because the Marlies are a bitter rival. Not the case with Chicago, a team the Amerks played just twice this year, splitting the series.
Not knowing this Wolves team, like other opponents, could work out in Rochester’s favor...
Cassidy said, “From our playoff experience, we have learned last year going in to Toronto, there was a hatred that built up and I thought we let it get the best of us early in the series. It was getting on the refs, playing too much of a high as opposed to going in there and saying we have to execute and play.”
