Created: 04/24/2014 6:45 AM WHEC.com

Students in Rochester who are frequently absent from school may get a visit from the district's top official today.

The Rochester City School District is holding a truancy blitz at 9 a.m. where Superintendent Bolgen Vargas and community volunteers will visit the homes of chronically absent students to give parents and families information about resources that can help their students succeed.

Vargas told us at the last blitz it's possible that the district will finish the school year with about half of its students having serious attendance problems.
