Wedding season is here and that means more than 67-million Americans are planning to attend nuptials this year.
According to American Express spending and savings tracker, guests will spend an average of $592 to attend a wedding. That's up 10-percent from last year and 75-percent from 2012.
Those in the wedding party will actually spend more, shelling out an average of $618. That's up 63-percent from 2012.
When it comes to purchasing gifts for the couple, wedding guests say they'll spend about $109 but family members of the bridal couple plan to spend double that amount, about $200.
Cash is the best gift of all with about 55-percent of couples saying this is their gift of choice.
And food is where the heart is. More than 70-percent of all wedding guests surveyed agreed that delicious food is the most important component of a great wedding.
