Nazareth College handed out this year’s Woerner Kollmorgen Award at a ceremony Thursday. The ceremony recognizes individuals who have made notable contributions to Rochester by enhancing the quality of life for members living in the community.

This year’s winner is Gary Rogers. In his retirement, Rogers created The Mia Foundation. It gives animals born with birth defects a fighting chance to live.

Nazareth College President Daan Braveman said, “Really have a lot of respect for what he's been doing in the community quietly, but really effectively, and what we want to do is we really want our students to understand when they leave us they have an obligation to give back to whatever communities they're living in.”
