An Ogden man, shot by a sheriff’s deputy in January, pleaded not guilty to nine charges in court Friday morning.
Vincenzo Zagari is facing charges including menacing a police officer, grand larceny and drug charges.
Prosecutors say Zagari stole a car in Spencerport then went to Pittsford Plaza and shoplifted from Wegmans. He’s also accused of trying to carjack a woman in the parking lot. After a short chase, police say he threatened a deputy with a hammer and two realistic looking BB guns.
Zagari was shot in the chest and hand. He was in the hospital for about a month before being transferred to the Monroe County Jail.
Zagari is due back in court May 12.
