A new development in the case of the woman found guilty in connection with the West Webster tragedy. An online petition has been started, asking the judge to be lenient when sentencing Dawn Nguyen.

Nguyen was convicted of lying on a gun purchase form to buy guns for convicted felon William Spengler. Police say Spengler used the guns to shoot four West Webster firefighters on Christmas Eve morning 2012. Two of them, Mike Chiapperini and Tomasz Kaczowka died.

The petition says Nguyen is always the first person to help a friend or even a stranger without someone having to ask. It goes on to say Nguyen is an asset to society and doesn't deserve to go to prison.

Nguyen faces up to four years in state prison when she is sentenced on the charges. She's also facing charges in federal court and could be sentenced to more time behind bars if convicted there.
