There is a new tool to help increase the number of blood donations in our area. On Monday, The American Red Cross and Polisseni Foundation unveiled a new "traveling donor center" at the Red Cross headquarters in Henrietta.

The Polisseni Foundation donated money to help purchase a bloodmobile after one of their family members, Greg Polisseni, needed a blood transfusion two years ago. Red Cross officials say this will allow them to get more blood from more places.

Kay Schwartz, Chief Executive Officer, NY Penn Blood Region, said, “We're able to pull up outside in a parking lot, just like this, open up our doors and collect blood. It's huge.”

If you are interested in donating blood, you can call 1-800-733-2767 or go to redcrossblood.org.
