She went missing more than 30 years ago and finally, investigators have answers for her family.
For years, investigators could not identify a body that was found in Shelby, Orleans County in October 1983. Now, they say she was Shari Lynn Ball, who was missing from Palm Beach, Florida. Ball had told her family she was moving to New York to pursue a modeling career in 1983. Months later, a hunter discovered her body on Route 63 in Shelby. A cause of death was never determined, but police believe foul play may be involved.
In October 2013, after a break in the case, investigators exhumed Ball’s body from a grave in Albion and used the national DNA database with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and discovered a match.
The New York State Police is working with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and is asking that anyone who knew Shari Ball, or anyone who may be able to provide any information about her, to contact them at 585-344-6210.
