April jobs report to be released Friday

Was April a good month for job seekers? Today, the Labor Department is expected to release the official jobs report for last month.

Economists say they're expecting a slight drop in the unemployment rate, and details on how many jobs were added to the workforce. Right now, experts estimate that number at round 200,000. Experts also say that consumers are spending more. March saw the fastest consumer spending increase in four and a half years.

There's good news for new college graduates: a new nationwide survey of human resources hiring officials found that because of the expanding job market, may employers won't hold back from hiring recent graduates. Economists say grads with degrees in finance, accounting, engineering and technology will likely have the edge in landing a job.
