There is a potential breakthrough in the treatment of pancreatic cancer from UR Medicine. Officials say scientists found a possible new way to intrude on cells that make up the disease.

Pancreatic cancer strikes quickly and has a low survival rate. It also doesn't respond well to targeted therapies.

According to the report, scientists discovered a gene with a critical link to the cancer and when they shut down the gene's most important function, it slowed the disease down.
