A few young stars hit the floor Friday as part of the Reading with Stars Program at Rochester Preparatory West Elementary School.

More than a hundred kindergarten students performed and heard from Mayor Lovely Warren. The mayor also had a chance Friday to read to the children.

Mayor Lovely Warren said, “Reading is so important. We all know children that read by third grade or on a third grade level, they have a more successful outcome when it comes to graduate high school and go on to college.”

Many of the students say they're excited about their future and receiving a college education.
