Volunteers were up and around in the city on Saturday morning, doing their part to spruce things up for the summer.

It’s all part of Clean Sweep 2014, a yearly event where citizens work in groups to clean up after the winter to help neighborhoods and parks ready for the summer.

“This is a great opportunity for us to show pride in our city and to clean up the city. You know, when we take pride in our city, others will also take pride in our city. We’ve got a great group out today,” said Rochester Deputy Mayor Leonard Redon.

This year’s volunteers got an extra special treat for donating their time and hard work.  Volunteers got a free ticket to the Red Wings game.
