Friends and family gathered on Sunday night to support a teenage girl fighting for her life after a serious car crash in Webster.
17-year-old Solomiya Blekot remains in guarded condition at Strong Memorial Hospital after the car she was in veered off Holt Road and slammed into a dumpster. The driver, 18-year-old Vincent Scaccia, has been charged with vehicular assault and driving under the influence of drugs.
The dinner was held at Cam’s Pizzeria in Penfield in Blekot’s honor to help her family pay for her medical expenses. The restaurant was packed with the teenager’s friends and family members.
Kaitlynn White and Sean Uetz, both friends of Blekot’s, are hopeful she’ll make a complete recovery.
“After knowing her for a few months of my life she’s already been a kinder person to me than I’ve ever known anyone to be. She’s always interested to talk to everyone and get to know everyone on a personal level,” said White.
“She had a really bright future. She wanted to be a doctor. She was working up at Rochester General Hospital doing a lot of intern stuff, so she had a lot going for her. She still does. She’s still going to be able to do those things, I believe,” said Uetz.
