It's a chance for local kids to play ball for the big leagues.

Wednesday is Major League Baseball's Pitch, Hit and Run Skills Competition.  The one-day event starts at 5 p.m. at Edgerton Park on Backus Street. The event gives area kids from ages seven to 14 a chance to participate in a competition that recognizes excellence in softball or baseball skills. The top performer in each age group for pitching, hitting and running will be able to move on to the next level of competition.

Parents must register their children for the event by printing out and bringing the form to the competition.
