A brutal attack on a playground was caught on video. The video is shocking and disturbing.
The video was posted on Facebook and claims to be from Jay Street. Rochester Police say they have an active investigation into the attack.
School officials say the attack happened in the evening and one of the victims is an eighth grader at School No. 17. Many people in the neighborhood saw the video and are disturbed by it.
Laura Koster said, “I cried, just to see the kids in the neighborhood fear.”
Miles Walker said, “It kind of blew my mind just to see that. I had to replay it just to make sure I understood what's going on. I don't know if it's a race thing or a bully thing."
But either way, people in this community say it's unacceptable. They’re concerned for the safety of the kids who come to this park on Orchard Street.
Koster said, “It's sad to see that happening. We fought for many years to get a new playground in here for kids to play and you have a few kids that are making it so nobody can go there and play."
The video was posted online by someone watching the attack. In the video, someone rips a young man out of the picnic table and throws him on the ground and then continues to beat him. Then there is another assault on a different young man trying to keep his bike. In the video, the attacker gets on the stolen bike and rides away, leaving many wishing there were more parents around.
Walker said, “Definitely should be more adult supervision if that's the case. If it's after school, there should be more supervisors.”
Koster said, “If you're watching your children and you know where your children are and what your children are doing, they're not out there causing ruckus for other people in the neighborhood.”
As of right now, News10NBC has not received any details from police.
