Like most other systems or appliances, air conditioning units need maintenance.

The high temperatures Friday had many people thinking about turning on our air conditioners for the first time this season.  But before you flip the switch on the AC, you need to make sure it is running properly.

Spring is the perfect time to check your heating and cooling system. Fixing any problems now will help you avoid more problems once the warm weather arrives for good. This also applies to all window units as well. The more efficient your air conditioner is, the less energy you’ll use. That means more money in your pocket.

This also applies to air conditioners.  Just by doing a few simple things, like cleaning the filter to improve air flow, you can improve your air conditioner’s efficiency.

Jim Lytle, John Betlem Heating and Cooling, said, “Critical to the system, whether it's heating or cooling, is the air filter. Make sure you have a fresh air filter or a clean air filter at the beginning of the season. Check it periodically. Make sure you have good air flow through the thing and your comfort will be delivered as promised.”

Seeking the services of a professional can also make a big difference in just how efficient your system will be for the summer months ahead. If you feel uncomfortable doing any of these things, the best thing to do is to call a professional. They’ll perform a thorough checkup to make sure you keep your cool all summer long.
