A 12-year-old boy received the chance to be a firefighter and EMT for the day.

The Ridge Culver Fire Department surprised Shaun Villegas at his school Friday morning. Villegas has type 1 diabetes. According to one of his teachers, he dreams of becoming a firefighter.

The Ridge Culver Fire Department plans to give him a real experience.

Chief Scott Zampatori, Ridge Culver Fire Department, said, “He's going to ride on our first out engine and go out on every call we get and participate. He has a full set of turnout gear and he will go out with the guys. We're going to make this a special day for him.”

Villegas’s first call was Friday morning. The call was for a mock DWI crash at West Irondequoit High School. The day was made possible by the Dream Factory.
